Between the tracks and the canal – St. Lorenz Süd has stories to tell.

Glad you’re here! St. Lorenz Süd is more than a spot on Lübeck’s map – it’s home. Between the railway tracks to the north and the Trave waterways to the south, a neighbourhood thrives that is denser, richer in history and more alive than almost anywhere else in the Hanseatic city. This site is for you: everything happening right around the corner.

Your neighbourhood: urban, dense and full of life

Did you know that on just 2.9 square kilometres we have one of the highest population densities in Lübeck? While much of the city feels spacious, around 15,800 of us live close together here in St. Lorenz Süd. This “island” setting shapes daily life between industrial heritage, new housing and the constant rhythm of commuting at the main station. Whether you live in a historic workers’ quarter or a new build on the “Neue Meile”, you’re part of a district that keeps reinventing itself.

Why this site? Our goals for you

This magazine is an unofficial project by neighbours for neighbours. We want to give you a central place for information that matters in everyday life in St. Lorenz Süd. We aim to:

  • Inform: What’s happening with major building projects like the “Neue Meile”?
  • Connect: Where can you find support at the neighbourhood office or family offers?
  • Preserve: We keep our history alive – from the old goods station to the courage of the Lübeck Martyrs at the Lutherkirche.
  • Share visions: How do we want to live in 2040?
